I don't know about playing the game on 3333 since that puts preasure on you because of the 7 Hour Time Limit. I never played the game in my life so I ask should I get it In case you wonder im not a graphics whore and I never ascribed to the notion of 'its not modern so it plays bad' silly business. it could be I gues 31 So we all know that system shock 2 is available on gog. Even for me, someone who likes old games, it was a bit too old-fashioned. Yes you need to play it 63 No is so hideous. 3333 setting is ok for second playthrough if you'll start it right away with fresh knowledge of level maps, traps and secrets. SS2 continues the SS1 story, but its not absolutely necessary to play SS1. SS1, play EE as it has essential features like mouse look. SS2 is fun/good but can be too much for some at times in terms of running low on things and managing stats, it is actually part of why I like SS1 more, but again both are good. Or, more commonly my weapons degrade and/or ammo gets uselessly low.Īlso, I know this is a particular camp but I prefer SS1's sci-fi groove / proto nuMetal midi soundtrack over SS2's blaring wall o' sound techno. System Shock is not a die-hard game, it's reasonable even for first playthrough. SS2 is more RPG and horror heavy than SS1, which is the main difference. You can start with ss2 and then play ss1 if you really. But it's immersive (especially if you turn the music off, and play it in the dark with headphones), the story is. If you havent played System Shock before, theres never been a better time. Yes, the graphics and controls are old and take some getting used to. System Shock: Enhanced Edition is the best way to play an immortal classic. But it's approximately 100 times cooler if you've played System Shock 1. Seems the Enhanced version is already out.could have sworn it wasn't out yet. System Shock 2 is cool and perfectly playable on its own. ![]() Should have waited there is a remastered edition of System Shock coming with mouse look and updated gfx. I'd make great progress but run into a challenging section with armored turrets or locked stuff and not have the points to boost the needed skill up to expected par. Not in my opinion, System Shock 2 is the better game. It’s good to play this game blind, because then you know as much about what is going on as your in-game character does. ![]() ![]() I appreciate how SS2 plays like a solid FPS with a twist, but I feel indignant when I essentially get punished (not quite softlocked, but functionally the same) for not specializing my skill points. Inventory is.fine, but I can see how an Inventory with a learning curve can be off-putting. Less like a modern FPS, more like a point & click with functional shooting. It helps to think of SS1 as Shenmue meets Fallout 3 meets Metroid. Are we talking gameplay or game-feel? Because while SS2 usually does a far better job of drawing me in, SS1 has my attention for longer spans of time.
